Black and Decker CMM1200
Review brought to you by Lawn Mower Reviews

The Black and Decker CMM1200 lawn mower is ideal for small areas of grass that are not close enough to an electric outlet to use a corded mower. It is well built and has a mulching operation but the cutting power is limited as is expected with a cordless mower. The mulching action is efficient and it offers a longer operation than the average before needing charging.
It suffers from the usual limitations of lawn mowers running on batteries, namely lower power and limited usage between charges but for a smaller area of lawn, for those who prefer an electric mower rather than a gas mower the Black and Decker CMM1200 would be a good choice.
The cutting path is about the same as the average for a small gas mower at nineteen inches. One big advantage of this mower over gas mowers is the much lower level of noise. It is very quiet! If you prefer doing your lawn mowing in the early morning before everyone else is awwake you'll appreciate this.
In tests the cutting limit was found to be lower than the manufacturers stated limit of 15,000 square feet at around 10,000 square feet. This is with reasonably short grass. For longer grass or weed thickets the limit would be about half of this. Electric mowers should not be used on wet grass.
The Black and Decker CMM1200 is lightweight and easy to transport. It can easily cope with shallow slopes but the major limitation of course is the length of time it will operate on a full charge. The mower is very well constructed and should last for many years.
The mower starts very easily with a push button. The controls on the top of the handle are easy to use and accessible. When not being used the handle folds away to make storage easier. The cutting height can be adjusted from 1 1/2 inches to 3 1/3 inches with an easy to use lever.
The collecting bag at the rear is fitted with a spring loaded closure which keeps the clippings under the deck where they are chopped and discharged onto the lawn as mulch. The feature works much better than in lower priced mowers. There is a clipping bag for the rear if required and an optional side chute.
The battery can be fully charged from complete discharge in about 16 hours. A new battery will be required every three to five years depending on how heavy the mower is used. Batteries currently are around $110.
Overall the is a well built mower that is very quiet in operation and able to handle small areas of grass efficiently.
Advantages
Very quiet, no cord needed, well made
Disadvantage
Limited battery power, not suitable for larger lawns
