The Troy-Bilt Mustang Colt RZT is a zero turn lawn mower designed for residential use. It has a large 42 inch cutting deck and is light weight for this type of mower at only 480 lbs.
This lawn mower is a small, compact machine but despite the size it has excellent performance. Powered by a 19 hp Kohler engine it has a top forward speed of 5 1/2 mph, which is slower than most other residential zero-turn mowers. The large, stable 24 inch cutting deck makes short work of mowing and certainly overcomes this shortfall. Fitted with two anti scalping wheels the deck is stable while mowing under normal conditions with good turning and handling even on inclines.
This model is designed specifically for residential use and is not suitable for use on rugged terrain and struggles on moderate hills. On level terrain the deck, adjustable between 1 1/2" to 4", is stable but on bumpy land bounces around considerably. The steel frame is adequate for normal conditions but on rugged ground it can be difficult to control as there is no hydraulic damping on the control arms.
Attachments are expensive and include a spreader, mounted on the rear, a bagging attachment, sunshade, mulch kit and rear bumper kit, The bagging attachment is very expensive and the side discharge is efficient enough that most people will opt for this rather than buy it.The compact design ensures easy storage but does make routing maintenance more difficult than for larger, more easily accessible models.
Under most normal conditions the Colt RZT performs adequately and is good value for money. It is not a heavy duty mower and should not be purchased if you need a mower to perform well under rugged conditions. Troy-Bilt Mustang Colt RZT is a good choice for routinely maintaining a lawn under normal conditions.
