Choose a Craftsman lawn mower for reliability and good quality. For small areas of lawn that are close to a power outlet the Craftsman 37051 electric lawn mower would be a good choice. It is easy to use, gives a good cut and is good value.
The electric motor is a 12 amp Black and Decker motor that needs a cord made for outdoor use. A cord over 100 feet is not recommended as power can drop off significantly over this length. power is adequate for most cutting jobs as long as you son't try to cut through very heavy weed growth or use it on very uneven terrain. The Craftsman 37051 includes a side discharge chute discharges grass clippings smoothly.
Starting, as is usual for electric lawn mowers, is very easy to do by releasing a safety switch and pressing a button. Speed and engaging the blade is easily controlled by a lever on the right hand side.
A mulching feature is included and is engaged by removing the bag at the rear. A mulch door then swings into place to trap any clippings in the deck and circulate them to be chopped into small pieces. Fine cutting are then discharged onto the lawn.
A bagging system is provided if you want to collect the clippings, for compost later perhaps, and holds about two cubic feet of clippings. However, when full the weight tends to make handling the mower slightly harder so it is a good idea to empty the bag when it is about half full.
Overall a well built, easy to use electric lawn mower that will quickly and efficiently mow the grass and mulch or bag the clippings.
Advantages
Quiet, easy to maintain, well built, easy to operate
Disadvantages
Must be operated within 100 feet of a power outlet, expensive, not for large lawns
